We offer audiology services for children and adults:

Otoscopy

Examination of the outer ear, which includes the ear canal and ear drum. This is to ensure there is no wax or foreign objects within the ear canal.

Tympanometry Testing

This involves the measurement of the ear canal volume, the pressure within the middle ear, and the compliance of the ear drum. This test can help us determine if there is an ear infection or hole in the ear.

Cerumen (wax) Management

Wax is necessary to protect your ear, however, a wax build-up can become uncomfortable.  Audiologists safely remove wax using instruments e.g. water irrigation. Please do not use ear buds, as it will push the ear wax deeper into the ear canal.

Diagnostic Audiology (includes home/ company visits)

We offer a comprehensive audiology evaluation to determine if you present with a hearing loss. If yes, the type and severity of the loss.

Electrocochleography

We work with an ENT to perform electrocochleography. This test examines the electrical activity generated by the cochlea and eighth nerve. It often used to aid in the diagnosis of Ménière disease, but it can also be used for intraoperative monitoring of the cochlear and eighth nerve.

Hearing Aids and Assistive Listening Devices

We offer a variety of hearing aids to accommodate different hearing losses and style preferences. Numerous studies have shown the importance of fitting hearing aids to keep the brain active and prevent cognitive decline.

Hearing Screenings at your School

Hearing significantly affects speech-language, educational, and behavioural outcomes. In children, an undetected or late detected hearing impairment often results in the critical period for language acquirement to be missed. Delays in speech, language and cognitive development can therefore persist, which can later affect one’s scholastic performance and employment prospects.

Our screening procedure includes; otoscopy (examination of the outer ear), tympanometry (can help determine if a person has an ear infection), pure tone audiometry screening (detects if a person can hear at screening levels), otoacoustic emissions (examines cochlear function), and appropriate results and referrals are provided.

Hearing Screenings at your Company

It is a common belief that hearing loss only affects your seniors. Think again, hearing loss can affect anyone; from those who are exposed to excessive traffic noise, sports fans, and people who enjoy spending time at concerts. There has been a trend in rising rates of hearing loss in younger generations. Having a hearing loss, even a mild hearing loss, can cause extra stress at work and impact your work performance. We provide on-site hearing screenings, diagnostic hearing tests, and hearing aid fittings.

Hearing Screenings at Industrial Workplaces

Excessive noise levels in the workplace is a global occupational health hazard often leading to a Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). An exposure to loud machinery over an extended period of time may face workers with serious risks to their hearing. It is important to note that even a single shot from a firearm may instantly result in permanent hearing damage. The effects of noise are dependent on the duration of exposure and intensity of the sound. We offer onsite hearing screening, if necessary diagnostic hearing testing, on-site hearing aid and noise plug fittings.

Tinnitus

Tinnitus is when you experience ringing or other noises in one or both of your ears. Let us examine the underlying cause of your tinnitus and ways to decrease the tinnitus.

New Born Hearing Screening

Technology allows us to assess hearing in the first days of life. This is a quick and painless process, which can make a difference to those who are born with a hearing loss. Early identification is key!

Ear Plugs (musician, noise, swim and sleeping plugs)

Universal ear plugs which are commonly bought in stores are often not effective in cancelling out loud noises in certain environments.

Our musician and noise plugs (for dentists, factory workers, hunters, motorcyclists etc.) are custom ear plugs. This allows for a comfortable fit, and it has a filter system to cancel out sounds above a certain decibel (dB) level. Noise plugs are an imperative preventative measure for noise induced hearing losses.

Our swimming and sleeping plugs are soft silicone and are therefore very comfortable. The swimming plugs ensures no water enters the ear. Our sleeping plugs will block out enough noise to ensure you have an undisturbed sleep.
